One of the milestones of your child’s development is the Early Childhood Screening that is provided for free by the Northfield Public Schools. The State of Minnesota requires that all children attending kindergarten in a public school complete a screening. Ideally, children should be screened as soon as possible after their third birthday in order to identify potential health and development concerns.
The screening tool that is used is designed for the specific age of your child. Your child’s vision, hearing, growth, immunization status, and development will all be checked by well-qualified, trained staff.
All screenings are held at Longfellow School located at 201 Orchard St. S., Northfield, MN. Call 507.645.1200 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. to schedule a screening or to get further information.
Make a screening appointment if:
- You are new to the district.
- Your child is 3 years old and has NOT been screened.
- You have concerns about a child who is younger than 3 years old.
- Your child is entering kindergarten in the fall and has NOT been screened.
