The Buildings and Grounds department is responsible for the maintenance, cleaning and care of all Northfield Public Schools district buildings. The department is also responsible for Health and Safety, Indoor Air Quality, and Capital Improvement Projects.

The Northfield Public Schools are committed to stewardship of our district resources. Our participation in the Schools for Energy Efficiency program has significantly reduced energy costs while also educating staff and students about the importance of energy conservation.

In June 2010, the Northfield Public Schools were recognized by the United States Environmental Protection Agency as an Energy Star Leader for reducing greenhouse gas emissions through a 10% reduction in overall energy performance.

In October 2010, Northfield High School was honored with the United States Environmental Protection Agency’s Energy Star Award in recognition of the school building’s indoor environment performance, which earned a rating of 79 on a scale of 1 – 100.
