Frequently Asked Questions

What do I have to do to get my student excused for part of the day?

If you anticipate ahead of time that your student will be leaving school during the day but do not know what time, please send 50 cents to ask your student to call you between classes or at lunch to find out. Then call attendance desk (663-0635) to report that your student will be leaving at a certain time. If you know what time your student will be leaving, please send a note in the morning and tell your student to drop it off at the attendance desk first thing. Either way, a yellow pass will be waiting at the attendance desk and the student should come down before the class they will be leaving and pick up that yellow pass. This will get the student out of class at the time specified on the pass. The student should stop in the office and sign out at the attendance desk on the way out of the building. If the student returns to the building before the end of the day, they should sign back in and have someone in the office sign the yellow pass to admint them back to class.

What do I do if I have to drop something off for my student?

If your student asks you to bring something in to the office for them, please remind them to stop and pick it up in the office. There is a drop off spot in the office for items to be picked up by students. We will not interrupt classes to deliver items or deliver notes to classes to pick up the item.

Is my student able to call me from school?

We understand that cell phones have become a significant part of our technological society. However, cell phones can also be a significant distraction to the learning environment. For this reason, students will need to turn off and put away cell phones from the beginning of first hour at 7:51 a.m. until the end of the instructional day at 2:45 p.m. There is a phone available in the office for students use.

What is the procedure for leaving a message for my student?

Student names will be posted on the messaging system which is displayed on TV screens in each classroom and around the building when you leave a message. It is then up to the student to stop in the office and pick up messages. Only emergency messages will be delivered (we will determine what an emergency is) to students and only messages from parents will be accepted.

My student doesn’t want to attend the assembly, what is the procedure for those students?

All students in grades 9-12 are expected to be present during any assembly or pep fest at the high school. If a student absolutely does not want to attend, there will be a supervised quiet study center set up for those students to go to. They are not to leave the building.
