  • Northfield Middle School is looking to rent or use a karaoke machine the afternoon and evening of April 10, 2015. If you have one to rent or share, or have contact info for someone who does, please contact Jody Saxton West at jody.saxtonwest@nfld.k12.mn.us or 507-645-1271.
  • Seniors: Community Scholarship Applications are available in the Counseling Office and on the Counseling Office website at http://nfld.k12.mn.us/nhs/support/counseling/scholarships/. More than 50 scholarships will be awarded at the Academic Awards and Community Scholarship program in April. Questions? Stop by the Counseling Office for more information.   • To parents of seniors who are unable to volunteer at the lock-in but still wish to help in the planning: we are in need of a number of BINGO prizes (small gift cards, etc.). If you are able to help collect some items, please contact Jill Kohel: Jill.Kohel@nfld.k12.mn.us. Thank you!
  • Parents of Juniors and Seniors: Planning for the 2015 Senior Lock-In is underway! This year’s lock-in is on Thursday, May 28th from 10:00 PM – 5:30 AM. If you are able to chaperone for a half-night shift, please contact Jill Kohel with your preference of first or second shift. Groups of friends can request to work together! Sports

  • Baseball Players: A schoology site for baseball has been set up which will alert you of any changes to schedule etc. Please stop and see either Mr. Auge or Sheryl in Activities for the access code.
  • There will be a boys tennis informational meeting on Tuesday, March 10. The meeting is in Room H-128 (Mr. Stevens’ Room). It will start at 3:05 and end at 3:30. Important information for the season will be given out at this meeting.
  • Baseball Parent Meeting: There will be a meeting for all parents of boys in grades 9-12 who are interested in playing baseball this Spring on March 12th starting at 6:30 in the Upper Cafe at the High School.
  • Boys Lacrosse: There will be a player/ parent meeting for any boys interested in joining lacrosse this Spring on March 9th at 7:00 pm in the Upper Cafe of the High School.
  • The girls golf team is having an informational meeting this Thursday March, 5 at 3:00 in room H128. If you cannot attend please see Mr. Stevens.
  • Boys Golf: Anyone interested in going out for golf this year should attend the informational meeting on Tuesday, March 10th at 3:00 in the upper cafeteria.

There is an emphasis on problem solving, teamwork, and interaction with other outstanding students and volunteer counselors and presenters. Sophomores and juniors ready to take the next step in student leadership should apply. RYLA takes place April 24-28th. Stop in the office for more information and for an application! Deadline to apply is TODAY, March 3rd.

Camp RYLA is a five-day camp which strengthens leadership skills and capabilities of high school students through physical, mental, emotional, and intellectual challenges.   • The Gator Boys Swimming & Diving team finished 8th in the Section 1A Meet this past weekend. Alex Battiste, Nicholas Pelletier, and Erik Lundstrom qualified for the MSHSL Class A State Meet and Jack Cuddy set a new school record for 11 dives in 1 meter diving.

  • National Honor Society: We will have a meeting on Friday morning at 7:20 in H126 (Mrs. Kopseng’s room)

  • NHS FCA (along with a couple youth groups in town) is hosting a Winter Party Friday, Feb 27th!! There will be pizza, a bonfire, pond hockey, and a UM Gopher athlete will be speaking! The party starts at 6:00 pm and will be hosted by Lorence’s Berry Farm on 28556 Foliage Ave. We’d love to see you there!
  • Congratulations to Mike Gersemehl who was selected to be a media intern at DECA State! Mike will be using his filming, camera, and social media skills to communicate with all DECA State participants, and prepare the visual portions of the awards ceremonies at the conference. This is quite an honor. Way to go Mike!
  • Also, DECA completed its community service project and raised $110.36 for St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Thanks to Audrey Kornkven and Katherine Herrlich for organizing this project.

  • NHS FCA (along with a couple youth groups in town) is hosting a Winter Party Friday, Feb 27th!! There will be pizza, a bonfire, pond hockey, and a UM Gopher athlete will be speaking! The party starts at 6:00 pm and will be hosted by Lorence’s Berry Farm on 28556 Foliage Ave. We’d love to see you there!
  • Congratulations to Mike Gersemehl who was selected to be a media intern at DECA State! Mike will be using his filming, camera, and social media skills to communicate with all DECA State participants, and prepare the visual portions of the awards ceremonies at the conference.
