A group of 16 students, four parents plus science teachers Amy Allin and Katrina Meehan completed a local service project on May 10. The group utilized their newly acquired skills in recognizing invasive plant species by removing buckthorn plants at the Sibley Elementary School nature area. All seventh grade students have completed a plant unit of instruction and have also made both an autumn and spring trip to the Carleton College Upper Arboretum. Ms. Allin and Ms. Meehan have annually been engaging their students in a long-term restoration project on the Carleton campus.

Twenty middle school students qualified to participate in the State History Day competition on May 4 at the University of Minnesota, resulting in special recognition for four of the students. More »
