Dear Families,
Parent/Teacher Conferences begin March 14th and continue March 18th and 19th. At conference time, you will receive your child’s Spring Conference Report. All our specialist teachers (Art, Music, PE and Media) are also available for drop in conferences. You will find them in their classrooms and/or offices. If you have questions about your scheduled conference, please contact the Sibley Elementary Office at 507.645.3470.
Preparing for conferences is a big job for classroom teachers. Each teacher will most likely come prepared with samples of your children’s work and with ideas to help them do even better in school. As a parent you can prepare for each conference too. Talk to your children before the conference. Find out what they think are their best subjects, and what subjects they like the least. Find out why. Also, ask your children if there is anything they would like you to talk about with their teachers. Make sure your children don’t worry about the conference. Help them understand that you and their teacher(s) are meeting together in order to help them. If a family member (spouse, significant other, etc.) cannot attend the conference with you, ask for his or her concerns and questions. We look forward to seeing you sometime over the next few weeks.
Parents of incoming kindergartners are invited to attend a parent information session Monday, March 4th at 6:00 p.m. at Sibley. The current kindergarten teachers and I will talk about the half-day and full day options as well as the curriculum and structure in kindergarten. We will also have a question/answer session.
Current kindergarten families recently received information about first grade. In this mailing, families received information to consider when looking at the options of both the Contemporary and Compaññeros programs.

Las reuniones con los maestros empiezan el 14 de marzo y continúan el 18 y el 19 de marzo. Durante los días de las reuniones con los maestros recibirán el informe de la primavera sobre sus hijos. Todos los maestros de áreas de estudio especializadas (arte, música, gimnasia y medios de comunicación (media), estarán también disponibles para que los visiten durante los días de las reuniones. También, pregunten a los niños si hay algo de lo que quieren que les hablen a sus maestros. Asegúrense de que a sus hijos estén preocupados por estas reuniones. Ayúdelos a entender que ustedes y los maestros se reúnen para ayudarlos en su trabajo escolar. Si un miembro de la familia no puede ir a la reunión les pueden preguntar si tienen preocupaciones o preguntas y hacerlas por ellos. Tenemos muchas ganas de verlos a todos a lo largo de las siguientes semanas.
Los padres y madres de niños y niñas que irán al kindergarten el próximo curso pueden asistir a una sesión informativa el lunes 4 de marzo a las 6:00 pm en Sibley. Las maestras de kindergarten y yo mismo hablaremos sobre las diferentes opciones de medio día o de día completo así como del programa de estudios y la estructura de las clases en kindergarten. También vamos a tener una sesión de preguntas y respuestas.
Las familias de niños y niñas en kindergarten recibieron recientemente información sobre primer grado. En ese correo las familias recibieron información para estudiar las diferentes opciones de los dos programas, el Contemporáneo (Contemporary) y el de Compañeros.
